How to Incorporate Your Own Business

By John Purfield

Have you thought about incorporating your own business? Most people have but they do not take the time to incorporate. Incorporating can be confusing but there are many ways to go about it. However it can be a simple process and you can file on your own if you wanted.

If you have a small business or starting one in the near future, consider the benefits of incorporation.  With the right CPA you may have access to more tax breaks. You may be able to save money on business expenses, travel expenses, entertainment and other related expenses by controlling a corporation.

Incorporating your business may help limit the financial liability of its owners. Your business, which is seen as a private entity, is responsible for its losses. However, I find in today's world of lawsuits you should not bet your livelihood and home on this.

Incorporating does not take much time if you get the help of a lawyer.  A lawyer will make sure your corporation is set up correctly and their office will do all the leg work. If you have the money, then it’s defiantly a convenience worth paying for.

You can also incorporate your business on your own. Take a look into buying incorporation book. A good incorporation book can show you the steps that are neccessary to incorporate. Also, ther are books to show you how to register your business with your state and local government.  Doing all the leg work of incorporating on your own will cost you the least amount of money.

Another way to incorporate is to do it on line. You can go to a place like LegalZoom.com and they take care of everything for you. It is a little more expensive than incorporating on your own. However, I find that it is less expensive than having lawyer file the corporation for you.

So if you have a small business or are thinking of starting one, think about incorporating your business. It can provide you many advantages.
